I have had the idea to design a chubby cat on my mind for a long time, eventually I decided to give it a go. I meant to design a male cat, but Matilda came along instead and I could not force myself to change a thing. She is such a lovely sweet cat, the one you would never stop petting.

Freddy Puppy The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, June 2016
Freddy was an expected addition to my amigurumi family. I drew his sketch without a precise idea, next thing I know is that he was smiling at me with his funny “look”. I could not resist and make him straightaway.
It is perfect to finish off some yarn leftovers…. have fun at trying different colour combos.

Sean Bear The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, May 2016
This bear is a dear character of mine which pattern has never been released until now. I have made several versions of him. Last year I made a football player, Nick, and sent it to Resobox 2015 World Amigurumi Exhibition in New York. He has not come back home after the exhibition as he found a new home there.
This year I have found the time to write the pattern and create Sean, Nick’s brother. I’m tempted to make a female version, but that will be another story …

Caesar Baby Penguin
by Mary’s Amiland, February 2016
One day I saw a beautiful photo of a baby emperor penguin cuddling up under the warm body of his father. I got inspired and wanted to design a character with that same tender look. I’m very pleased with the way he turned out, you want to cuddle him as soon as you direct your glance on him, don’t you?
I started calling my baby penguin Caesar almost immediately, and I believe I have been influenced by the name of his specie, emperor. At the end I did not change the name. I think Caesar is perfect on him, such an important name that makes him stand out in the group.

Saint Valentine's Heart
by Mary’s Amiland, January 2016
I made a little heart so I could add it to any of my amigurumi and make the perfect gift for Saint Valentine’s Day.
It can be used also for bags or key chains, I’m sure you will find a way to use it!

RESOBOX's World Amigurumi Exhibit vol. 2: Crocheted Culture Celebration!
The exhibition goes from Dec 11, 2015 to Feb 28, 2016 in New York, and during this time ROSEBOX has organised various events to help make known amigurumi around the world!
- opening party held on 11th December 2015.
If you missed that event check out the video to see how the night went! It was definitely a bustling night and ROSEBOX gallery was filled with amigurumi and people alike.
I could not join the party, however thanks to the video I felt as if I were there. I could even see some of my pieces!
- every day a themed amigurumi is posted on Facebook so we can learn a bit more about the various countries that have been featured in the exhibition.
At this link you can find Italy that I have had the honour to represent with Nick Bear.
- next event is scheduled at Vogue Knitting Live! this weekend (January 15-16, 2015) where you can visit RESOBOX booth on the 6th floor. They will be showcasing amigurumi pieces from the World Amigurumi Exhibition as well as presenting a lecture on Sunday at 2:30 PM on "The current trend of Amigurumi in Japan."
Check out the vklive website for more details and registration!

Tino Bear The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, December 2015
Tino Bear has been on my to do list for almost a year. It was worth waiting until now as when I started designing him all was ready and his character came into life smoothly.
He is a “Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff" (from Winnie The Pooh’s song), don’t you think?
