Laurence Donkey the Ami

I wanted to create a four-footed animal with minimal sewing required. I thought a donkey would be perfect for my challenge. I took me a few attempts before coming up with a sketch I wished to crochet. That was Laurence with a colorful blanket on his back.

I was determined to make my sweet donkey in one piece, I tried several options and eventually I landed to the solution that I propose in this pattern. The head and the legs are crocheted to the body, leaving only ears, muzzle and tail to be sewn on separately.

Otis Big Ears The Bunny

by Mary’s Amiland, July 2016

The character of Otis Big Ears has been on my mind for so long and eventually I decided it was time to make him. He is so tiny that he can stay in a pocket. His motto is “take me with you everywhere”, he is so curious and looking forward to discovering the world with you.

The pattern was featured in Pattern Pack Amigurumi Magazine, Issue 30 - March 2017

Tim Rabbit The Ami

by Mary’s Amiland, February 2017

Tim Rabbit is a character that I designed back in 2014 and only now I have decided to refresh his pattern. It has been such a fun project to make, overall I have not made major changes to the original pattern. This time, however, I have made the face differently and his cap has become a nice beret. Also the little apple on the sweater is gone and it has been replaced with a carrot … I was told is more appropriate for a rabbit.

This cute rabbit is going to join my farm animal series with an urban touch. Charley Bull Cow, Patty Pig and Dana Sheep will give him a warm welcome in the gang!

Dora Duck The Ami

by Mary’s Amiland, September 2016

Dora is my second attempt at a duck, the first one has been a disaster and only now I have found the guts to give it another go.
My idea was to get head and body crocheted as one piece. It has taken me several attempts before getting to what I had in mind. I measured, counted, experimented shapes and ripped off so many times … but it was all worth for. I’m quite happy with the outcome, is she not cool with her hat on?

Miss Pig The Ami

by Mary’s Amiland, July 2016

Miss Pig is one of my first characters that I have ever designed. I had fun at refreshing her pattern adding here and there some variations to the original version.
I re-wrote the instruction according the current format of my patterns and included the learning gained over the last few years.
I really hope you would like the new Miss Pig, do send me a photo if you happen to have time. I would love to seeing your work!

Dana Sheep The Ami

by Mary's Amiland, October 2015

Dana character was born little by little, after Patty Pig and Charley Bull Cow. She is romantic and a bit shy. Dana loves going out with Patty Pig, her best friend, and spending the afternoon chatting, and telling each other their girl secrets.

Charley Bull Cow The Ami

by Mary's Amiland, August 2015

Charley is my second pattern of farm animals, although his character was born first.
As a perfect gentlemen he gave way to Patty Pig who was impatient for coming to life.
That is not surprising, he is a sweet and joyful boy, he likes studying and playing with his friends after school.

Patty Pig The Ami

by Mary’s Amiland, July 2015

When inspiration comes unexpectedly, it makes you do just the right thing. This is what happened with Patty, I made her sketch in thirty minutes and it was love at first glance!
Among the farm animals that I have drawn, she is the one with the strongest personality. She knows exactly what she wants… indeed she made me do her pattern first.
Patty loves fashion, so I had to think of a trendy outfit for her. I came up with the idea to make a dungarees, and a set made of a tiny purse and a bag enhanced with embroidered French knots on the top.
She is ready to go out shopping!

I’m in love with this character, is she not absolutely cool?

*Special Thanks* to Tanya Naser from HodgePodgeCrochet who kindly agreed on including her beautiful eyes’ pattern with my ami.
