Pine Cone Elves
This year I wanted to make something with the pine cones in my garden. I thought pine cone elves were perfect to decorate my house for Christmas.
They are quite fun and quick to make. You can make them in different colors as you wish.

Happy 4th Birthday Mary's Amiland
Mary’s Amiland celebrates its fourth birthday!
I cannot believe another year has gone by and I’m still as passionate about amigurumi as I was at the start.
This year has been a year of consolidation of the know-how built in the past years. I have become more demanding with my patterns and started some challenging projects that will come into life next year.
Yes, the beauty of this art is the opportunity to expand into new venues and learn something new every day.
Thank you all for your support!

Clio Butterfly the Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, November 2016
I was about to start another project when Clio came along. This cute butterfly has been a nice unexpected surprise to me and I could not help but start working on her straightaway.
Clio has offered to me a chance to experiment shapes and sizes. The hardest part has been to work out the pattern of the wings, believe it or not I felt I was back at school studying geometry.
Now that she stands in front of me I’m amazed by her simplicity. Her smiling face rewards me for the hard work and makes me feel so proud. What I still cannot tell is from where she came, but I guess this is creativity: an unplanned, uncontrolled reflex of your mind, love that so much!

Bruce Dragonfly The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, July 2017
I wanted to design a character from the fascinating world of insects and a dragonfly was just what I was looking for. I fell in love with their bright colors, my favorites were green and blue. I revisited the features of the real insect to adjust them to the amigurumi style.
It has taken me a long time to develop the pattern and now that Bruce is in front of me I feel so proud.
Is he not the most handsome dragonfly you have ever seen?

Otis Big Ears The Bunny
by Mary’s Amiland, July 2016
The character of Otis Big Ears has been on my mind for so long and eventually I decided it was time to make him. He is so tiny that he can stay in a pocket. His motto is “take me with you everywhere”, he is so curious and looking forward to discovering the world with you.
The pattern was featured in Pattern Pack Amigurumi Magazine, Issue 30 - March 2017

Frankie Kitty The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, May 2017
When I started working on this character I had no idea what I was doing. I had little yarn left over from other projects which was enough for a small body… the rest happened by itself.
Soon I found myself observed by a kitty with a blue bow tie, that was Frankie. He is adorable and he looks at you with curious eyes awaiting for a pat.
I’m glad that this cute kitty came out the blue and joined my Amiland, he has found a spot on my desk from where he can watch me all the time. It can be your lucky charm, give him a try!

Valentino Hare The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, April2017
It rarely happens that I draw nice sketches for my amigurumi, which is not surprising as I cannot draw.
Valentino’s sketch is one of the best I have ever made, it had something special from the beginning. I wanted to create a joyful friend for our little ones and when I finished drawing it I felt in love with him straight away. I did my best to translate his cuteness into an amigurumi, I remade his parts several times until they looked exactly as the drawing.
Now that he sits in front of me I cannot help being over the moon. Is he not the cutest thing you have ever seen?

Tim Rabbit The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, February 2017
Tim Rabbit is a character that I designed back in 2014 and only now I have decided to refresh his pattern. It has been such a fun project to make, overall I have not made major changes to the original pattern. This time, however, I have made the face differently and his cap has become a nice beret. Also the little apple on the sweater is gone and it has been replaced with a carrot … I was told is more appropriate for a rabbit.
This cute rabbit is going to join my farm animal series with an urban touch. Charley Bull Cow, Patty Pig and Dana Sheep will give him a warm welcome in the gang!

Ollie Bear The Ami
by Mary’s Amiland, January 2017
I wanted to challenge myself and create an amigurumi with minimal sewing needed. I have come up with a pattern where just ears and muzzle are sewn on.
What I did not expect was that my experiments would turn into this cute bear. Does he not have an expression of “Please hug me tight!”?
